Job Overview

The Assistant Director of Athletics Communications & Marketing is a key member of a three-person team responsible for overseeing all communications and media relations activities for the Department of Athletics and Recreation at Allegheny College, located in Meadville, Pennsylvania.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Compose and refine news releases as well as feature articles.
  • Support daily updates and maintenance of the college’s athletic website.
  • Act as the main liaison between the department and media outlets for several athletics programs.
  • Create, design, and revise publications such as media guides and game programs.
  • Manage and guide the student staff involved in athletic communications.
  • Coordinate the nomination and promotion efforts for student-athletes regarding various honors, awards, and recognitions.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics and Recreation.

Qualifications and Experience

  • A bachelor’s degree is mandatory; a master’s degree is preferred.
  • Between 1 to 3 years of professional experience is required.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills are crucial.
  • Experience within collegiate sports information is necessary, with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and deliver high-quality results.
  • Familiarity with Division III athletics philosophy and enthusiasm for a motivated, team-oriented environment is important.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google Suite applications including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Google Sheets.
  • Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays with flexibility in scheduling.

Compensation

The position offers an hourly wage of $16.00 and is classified as non-exempt.
