Job description
Position summary
This role oversees day-to-day compliance monitoring for assigned sports and helps maintain a robust NCAA compliance framework. It supports ongoing education on NCAA rules and university policies, recommends process improvements to strengthen the integrity of Tulane Athletics, and serves as the department’s technology contact. The position reports to the Senior Associate Athletic Director for Governance & Regulatory Affairs.
Key duties
- Track recruiting logs, campus visits, recruiting expense reports, and recruiting/scouting service requests for assigned sports using compliance systems.
- Support education efforts on NCAA recruiting rules and related university policies.
- Monitor playing and practice season requirements, camp/clinic activity, tryouts, equipment issuance, and student-athlete apparel retrieval.
- Work with coaches and sports medicine staff to keep processes aligned with NCAA and university standards.
- Oversee initial and continuing eligibility, including amateurism, academic progress, and transfer portal matters.
- Prepare degree progress reports with academic advising and coordinate monitoring practices for academic and amateurism eligibility.
- Review staff declarations, help maintain records tied to head coach responsibility rules, and support education on personnel regulations.
- Manage financial aid data, scholarship awards, awards limits, and student-athlete benefits in coordination with the Financial Aid Office.
- Research NCAA rules, support interpretations, process secondary violations, and file waivers when needed.
- Maintain rosters, student-athlete files, and compliance forms in the department’s technology platforms.
- Carry out additional compliance-related work as assigned.
Required qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree is required.
- At least 1 year of directly related NCAA compliance experience is required.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with close attention to detail.
- Ability to work well across departments and build effective relationships with coaches, staff, and student-athletes.
- Practical knowledge of NCAA regulations, governance, and university/conference rules.
- High level of organization, initiative, and self-motivation.
- Working familiarity with Microsoft Office, Box, Adobe Acrobat, and NCAA compliance or monitoring software.
- Ability to learn new software tools quickly.
Preferred background
- Master’s degree or Juris Doctor.
- 2 years of directly related NCAA compliance experience.
- Prior experience in Division I intercollegiate athletics.
Additional information
