Job description
Role Overview
This position reports directly to the CFO and Head of Investment (China), operating within a flat team structure with opportunities to mentor junior colleagues. The candidate will take on key responsibilities as a "deal captain" focusing on mergers & acquisitions and strategic investments in China's district cooling/heating and renewable energy sectors.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and assess valuation models by validating key assumptions and conducting strategic, business, and commercial risk analyses.
- Manage end-to-end transaction execution, including due diligence, project coordination, document reviews, deal closing, and collaboration with internal departments such as business development, operations, engineering, finance, treasury, and legal, as well as external advisors and deal partners.
- Conduct consistent reviews of current portfolio assets, recommending and monitoring initiatives that enhance value.
- Stay informed on market trends, competitor activities, regulatory changes, and maintain a comprehensive analytical database.
- Ensure asset companies comply with internal approvals and adhere to established governance processes and procedures.
- Prepare high-quality investment memoranda, detailed reports, and presentations to support decision-making and facilitate investment approvals.
Candidate Profile
- Possess a degree in Accountancy, Finance, Business, or related fields; candidates with Engineering combined with Business or Finance qualifications will also be considered.
- Have 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in corporate finance, M&A, project finance, or investments specifically related to district cooling/heating, power generation, or renewable energy sectors.
- Exhibit advanced capabilities in financial modeling, with proven expertise in constructing comprehensive and complex models.
- Demonstrate a balance of commercial awareness and risk management acumen.
- Be a team-oriented professional who can also independently thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced setting.
