Job description
Job Summary
This position supports the delivery of specialist medical oncology care while working under the hospital’s bylaws, policies, and clinical standards. The role also includes supervising interns and residents.
Clinical Responsibilities
- Support the consultant in managing oncology patients and delivering care that aligns with the hospital’s medical standards.
- Provide a high level of patient care across all areas of medical oncology within approved clinical privileges.
- Offer inpatient and emergency room consultations when requested, responding within the time limits set by hospital policy.
- Ensure medical records are completed on time, with accurate, clear, and legible documentation.
- Take part in on-call duties and remain available according to the hospital’s required response times.
- Conduct daily morning rounds to identify patients who are ready for discharge and ensure discharge orders are entered at least 24 hours in advance.
- Carry out other specialty-related clinical duties as assigned.
Academic Responsibilities
- Provide orientation, bedside teaching, and supervision to interns, residents, and fellows as assigned.
- Contribute to departmental education sessions and training activities, including participation in national and international conferences.
- Maintain professional growth through continuing education and ongoing knowledge development.
Research Responsibilities
- Participate in clinical, basic, and translational research projects in line with Research Advisory Council policy to support medical advancement, postgraduate education, and the hospital’s academic reputation.
Administrative Responsibilities
- Handle administrative tasks assigned by the Head of Section or Chairman.
- Take part in required departmental activities and serve on hospital or departmental committees when needed.
- Help develop and implement practices that improve the use of resources within the department and across the hospital.
- Follow current hospital bylaws, medical staff rules, regulations, and policies, including updates as they arise.
- Comply with all hospital policies and procedures.
- Support education, training, and development activities for self and others where applicable.
- Perform additional related duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
Applicants should have graduated from a recognized medical school, completed the required postgraduate training in a specialty and/or subspecialty, and hold a Saudi, American, Canadian, or UK board certification, or an equivalent qualification approved by the Medical Staff Credentialing Committee. The role requires two years of training in the specialty and subspecialty, along with post-training experience.
Other Requirements
Preference will be given to Arabic-speaking candidates.
