Role overview
This opportunity is with Mount Wolseley Hotel, Spa & Golf Resort in Carlow. The property is set in peaceful countryside in County Carlow, around one hour from Dublin city, and offers a luxury 4-star golf and spa experience with an 18-hole championship golf course, Sanctuary Spa, leisure facilities including a 20m indoor pool, and modern accommodation with a strong focus on service quality.
The position is described as an Assistant Conference & Events Manager role, and the advert also refers to the position as Conference & Events Supervisor.
Key duties
- Oversee day-to-day conference and events operations.
- Stay informed about menu details, any menu updates, and current promotions.
- Make sure team members are always well presented and follow the correct uniform standards.
- Monitor team performance and ensure consistently high service standards.
- Prepare event and function spaces in line with the operation’s required standards.
- Keep conference and events areas clean, organised, and presentable.
- Support management with training and development of team members.
- Handle multiple priorities and take on additional duties when business needs require it.
- Support other departments where needed and maintain effective working relationships across the hotel.
- Be willing to work across other food and beverage departments when required.
- Help train and upskill the team, ensuring all members are signed off on SOP training.
- Contribute ideas for events and improvements within the department.
- Assist with staff appraisals, disciplinary matters, and interviews.
- Work a flexible schedule, including early shifts, late shifts, and weekends.
Health and safety responsibilities
- Meet obligations under the Health & Safety at Work Act 1989 and any later updates or related legislation.
- Take reasonable care for your own safety and that of colleagues, guests, and anyone else on the premises.
- Keep work areas safe and tidy, and report hazards, loss, or damage to management promptly.
- Be aware of first-aid trained staff and the location of the first-aid box.
- Follow all safety rules and procedures, including those in the hotel’s Health & Safety Statement.
- Support fire drills and other accident or safety drills as directed by the hotel safety officer.
- Take part in all health and safety training arranged for you and your team.
- Immediately notify management if you are involved in, or witness, any accident or incident on hotel grounds.

The ideal candidate should be smartly presented, have strong interpersonal skills, and be able to listen carefully to guest needs. You should bring excellent leadership, communication, and people skills, be committed to strong customer service, remain effective under pressure, and be adaptable across changing work situations.
