Position Overview
The Legal Department of the City of Albuquerque is seeking multiple Assistant City Attorneys to join their team. These attorneys will deliver diverse legal services to the city, representing it in judicial and administrative matters at state and federal levels. Positions include providing general counsel support to various city departments, addressing legal needs for the Department of Municipal Development (DMD), and handling civil litigation matters on behalf of the city.
Key Qualifications and Skills
Successful candidates must demonstrate exceptional attention to detail alongside strong writing and interpersonal communication capabilities. Preferred experience includes litigation, contract drafting and review, working with government entities, ensuring compliance with governmental regulations, and policy development.
Requirements and Credentials
- Juris Doctorate from an American Bar Association accredited law school is mandatory.
- Active membership in good standing with the State Bar of New Mexico, or eligibility to obtain licensure within three months of hire.
- Valid New Mexico Driver's License or ability to acquire one by hire date.
- Obtain a City Operator's Permit (COP) within six months of employment start.
- Submission of a resume and a writing sample is required during application.
Work Arrangement and Employment Status
This role is classified as an unclassified, at-will position with a flexible hybrid work schedule combining in-person and remote work options.
Compensation
