About the Role
The Department of Housing and Public Works invites applications for the position of Assistant Cabinet, Legislation and Liaison Officer (AO7). This position is critical in managing the preparation, secure handling, and distribution of Cabinet and parliamentary materials, ensuring strict compliance with relevant guidelines. The role includes providing expert advice, conducting quality control on submissions and legislative documents, and engaging with key stakeholders. This position supports the department’s strategic objectives through accuracy, timeliness, and collaborative efforts, contributing significantly to initiatives that impact Queensland communities.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the secure management, handling, and distribution of Cabinet and Parliament Services (CAPS) materials in line with compliance standards.
- Offer expert guidance and ensure quality assurance of Cabinet submissions, briefing notes, Executive Council minutes, and parliamentary documentation.
- Prepare and coordinate correspondence and reports for senior leadership, including the Director-General and Minister, to facilitate Cabinet and legislative activities.
- Develop and maintain robust partnerships with internal and external stakeholders to streamline CAPS operations.
- Provide coaching and mentorship to team members, fostering a positive, inclusive, and accountable work culture.
Candidate Profile
- Proven experience handling sensitive, confidential information and multitasking within conflicting priorities.
- Familiarity with or willingness to learn about Executive Government, Parliament, Cabinet, and related committee processes.
- Strong stakeholder management capabilities with a track record of building positive relationships.
- Meticulous attention to detail; experienced in delivering under pressure with accuracy.
- Commitment to principles of workplace equity, diversity, and inclusion.
While no specific qualifications are required, candidates with academic or professional experience in public administration, public policy, or law are preferred. Experience using SharePoint is an advantage.
