Position Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and commercially savvy Assistant Buyer to join our renowned Sheridan team, based in Pyrmont, Sydney. This role supports the buying function in developing aspirational product ranges for one of Australia's most iconic homewares brands, using insights, market trends, and data analysis to drive commercial results.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the Senior Merchandise Manager in creating and implementing category and range strategies within the Sleep product line.
  • Ensure all product information, range plans, and buying systems are meticulously maintained for accuracy throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Examine sales data, competitor actions, and market developments to pinpoint new opportunities and make informed recommendations.
  • Manage key business schedules, regular reporting, and coordinate cross-functional project milestones to ensure timely progress.
  • Collaborate closely with Design, Supply Chain, Marketing, and International teams to facilitate successful product launches and seasonal range executions.
  • Generate weekly sales reports, purchase presentations, and post-season evaluations to enable data-driven commercial decisions.
  • Contribute to the enhancement of reporting methods, system efficiencies, and overall workflows.

Candidate Profile

  • Experience in roles such as Assistant Buyer, Buying Coordinator, or similar merchandise support capacity.
  • Advanced skills in Excel and comfort with analyzing data and generating reports.
  • Strong organizational abilities, attention to detail, and capacity to handle multiple tasks within a dynamic retail setting.
  • Excellent teamwork, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Background in retail or homewares is preferred, along with an interest in product, textiles, or design.
  • Familiarity with product lifecycle management (PLM), BlueCherry (BOB), or related merchandise platforms is advantageous but not required.
