Role Overview

The Assistant in Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting is tasked with managing emergencies related to aircraft, structural fires, medical incidents, hazardous materials, and other critical situations within airport boundaries. The goal is to protect passengers, crew, and staff through firefighting, rescue, and emergency medical aid.

Key Responsibilities

• Respond swiftly to aircraft-related accidents, fires in structures, medical crises, hazardous spills, and other airport emergencies.
• Execute firefighting and rescue operations using appropriate methods to safeguard lives and property.
• Apply fire suppression techniques employing water, foam, dry chemicals, and other agents effectively.
• Conduct searches and rescue missions within smoke-covered or dangerous environments.
• Deliver first aid and basic life support to injured or ill persons until advanced care arrives.
• Assist in conveying patients to healthcare facilities as required.
• Carry out daily checks and upkeep of firefighting vehicles, extinguishing equipment, and personal protective gear.
• Manage inventory of firefighting tools ensuring their operational readiness.
• Engage regularly in emergency drills, simulations, and ICAO guideline-based training.
• Document incident details, training participation, and shift activities thoroughly for compliance audits.
• Follow all applicable local, regional, and national firefighting regulations and Standard Operating Procedures.
• Spot hazards during patrols and inspections and act promptly to mitigate risks.
• Collaborate with airport operations, medical teams, emergency services, and external agencies during incidents and drills.
• Coordinate efforts with the Duty Manager, Air Traffic Control, and airport authorities for effective emergency handling.

Stakeholder Interaction

Key internal collaborators include the Duty Manager - ARFF, Airport Operations, Security, Medical Services, ARFF team members, Engineering & Maintenance, and Health & Safety units. Externally, interaction occurs with local fire departments, airline operators, ground handlers, equipment providers, insurers, community leaders, and Civil Aviation Authorities.

Qualifications and Experience

• Possess a Diploma or equivalent qualification in Fire Fighting Technology.
• Certification from a recognized firefighting academy is mandatory.
• Prior experience of 2 to 3 years in firefighting, preferably related to aircraft rescue and firefighting operations.
