About the Role
Downer is seeking an Assistant Accountant to join their Government & Integrated Facilities Management team in Auckland, New Zealand. This role is crucial for ensuring accurate financial reporting and providing essential support for key contracts. You will report to the Finance Team Manager NZ and contribute to delivering high-quality outcomes for vital services.
What You'll Do
- Manage month-end financial procedures, including journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, invoicing, and profit recognition, with a strong emphasis on precision and punctuality.
- Generate monthly and ad-hoc financial reports, offering valuable insights to aid operational and commercial decision-making.
- Contribute to overhead and cost analysis, supporting cost-reduction initiatives and continuous improvement efforts.
- Oversee invoicing, accounts receivable, and accounts payable functions, ensuring adherence to Downer's policies and contractual obligations.
- Collaborate effectively with finance, contract, and operational teams to proactively identify potential risks and uphold robust financial governance.
What You'll Bring
- A degree in Accounting or a related field, coupled with a strong understanding of financial accounting principles.
- Proven experience in supporting financial reporting, month-end processes, and reconciliations within a dynamic work environment.
- Proficiency in Excel and other systems, with prior experience in enterprise systems like SAP, WMS, or Coupa being advantageous.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to foster positive working relationships across diverse teams.
- A proactive approach, meticulous attention to detail, and the capacity to work autonomously while contributing to collective team objectives.
