Role Overview
The Asset Information Specialist position is a permanent full-time role based in New Plymouth or Tauranga. It is described as a hybrid role and is focused on improving business performance by identifying, enabling, and delivering improvement opportunities. The role exists to keep business processes and electricity asset data accurate, accessible, and aligned with operational, regulatory, and strategic requirements.
This position plays an important part in maintaining up-to-date electricity asset information within the company’s business systems. A positive, practical team player with a can-do attitude is sought to help ensure the organisation’s data remains reliable and supports safe outcomes for customers, communities, and staff.
Key Duties
- Maintain, update, and analyse geospatial asset data in business systems to support operations, planning, engineering, asset management, and decision-making.
- Drive process improvement initiatives across different business functions and look for ways to reduce inefficiency.
- Support change management efforts and help others adopt new ways of working.
- Work closely with the team, broader electricity groups, and field teams to strengthen team performance and improve information flow.
- Contribute to a collaborative workplace culture where customers and employees are valued and success is recognised.
- Apply knowledge of the electricity network, including its growth areas and change environment, to support the business.
Skills and Experience
The ideal applicant is someone who understands why accurate information matters and how it supports safety and operational effectiveness. The role suits someone who enjoys continuous improvement, is comfortable with repetitive work, can build strong relationships with a wide range of people, and is willing to research, learn, and contribute actively to the asset information team.
- Hands-on experience with ArcGIS, including ArcMap.
- Ability to create and edit spatial datasets such as points, lines, and polygons.
- Experience using SAP Enterprise Asset Management to handle asset information.
- Excellent attention to detail and a consistently high level of accuracy.
- Proven experience leading process improvement or business transformation work.
- Experience analysing business processes and putting improvements into action.
- Ability to facilitate workshops and engage with a variety of stakeholders.
- Experience supporting change and encouraging adoption of new processes.
- Working knowledge of data fundamentals.
