Role Overview
Meril Life Sciences is hiring an Area Sales Manager for its Ortho Robotics business. The position is focused on capital equipment selling and is available for the following locations: Kolkata, Bhubhaneshwar, Hyderabad, and Chandigarh.

Key Responsibilities
- Create and maintain a healthy sales pipeline across hospitals, ambulatory surgery centers, and orthopedic clinics.
- Handle long sales cycles for capital equipment while also driving near-term conversions.
- Work closely with the Joints Product Team to shape sales conversations around procedure preferences such as total knee, hip, and revision surgeries.
- Adapt product positioning to fit each surgeon’s working style, clinical preferences, and decision-making approach.
- Negotiate major deals for robotic systems, including outright purchases, lease structures, and service-based contracts.
- Support buying decisions with strong return-on-investment logic and clear clinical value arguments.
- Present confidently to hospital leadership and explain the financial, operational, and patient-care benefits of the investment.
- Act as a trusted advisor on how robotic technology can improve efficiency and clinical results.
- Use published studies, clinical evidence, and health-economic tools to strengthen the sales proposition.
- Educate customers on how the offering compares with competitors such as Stryker, Medtronic, and Globus Medical.
- Coordinate with clinical demo and education teams to arrange surgeon demonstrations, cadaver labs, and evaluation trials.
- Build deeper customer relationships through practical, hands-on engagement activities.
- Track competitor moves, market developments, and purchasing trends, and share insights that support commercial planning.
Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree in Business, Life Sciences, Biomedical Engineering, or a closely related discipline is required.
- At least 3 years of proven experience selling capital equipment in the medical devices sector, preferably in robotics, imaging, or surgical platforms.
- A strong record of surpassing targets in complex, multi-stakeholder selling environments.
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to present ideas persuasively and sell solutions effectively.
- Preferred: an MBA or another advanced degree.
- Preferred: an existing network of orthopedic surgeons and hospital procurement contacts.
