Overview
The Area Manager will act as the primary liaison with key customers across the Urology division within the Women’s & Men’s Health business unit. The role focuses on meeting sales objectives and nurturing long-term relationships with medical professionals in hospitals nationwide throughout Ireland.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead sales efforts by presenting, demonstrating products, and closing orders independently, managing opportunities through to completion.
- Develop and secure sales across all hospitals in the assigned national territory.
- Build and maintain strong partnerships with key customers, including surgeons, clinical nurse managers, and procurement teams.
- Meet quarterly and annual sales targets consistently.
- Support customers with clinical, technical, and commercial inquiries.
- Plan and execute business strategies across the responsibility area.
- Identify new business prospects and assess potential markets.
- Collect and analyze market and competitor data systematically to inform strategy.
- Maintain ongoing interaction with principal stakeholders.
- Provide customers' feedback and suggestions to enhance products and company market position.
- Lead the implementation of new product introductions and corporate initiatives locally.
- Participate in and assist organizational activities for relevant conferences and meetings within the business unit.
Performance Metrics
- Achievement of annual sales targets with regular monthly and quarterly evaluations.
- Gross margin monitoring each month.
- Generation and monthly assessment of sales pipeline.
- Conversion rates of opportunities into confirmed sales, measured monthly.
- Expansion and management of key product portfolio.
- Engagement scores with the team, reviewed quarterly and annually.
- Accuracy in sales forecasting and demand planning, reviewed monthly.
- Customer interaction and market presence effectiveness.
Requirements and Experience
- Minimum three years of medical sales experience within hospital settings.
- Experience or knowledge in the Urology specialty is preferred but not mandatory.
- Clinical background or experience working in operating theatres is advantageous.
- Proven ability to establish relationships with key opinion leaders such as surgeons and nurse managers.
- Excellent communication skills to represent the company and its products positively.
- Relevant education and practical knowledge to handle complex medical device technologies.
- Valid full driver’s license is essential.
- Strong understanding of the Irish Medical Device market and a minimum of three years’ experience in medical device sales is desirable.
