Job description
Job Overview
The Architectural Designer will be responsible for delivering top-tier design outputs in construction documentation, spanning all project stages such as Pre-Design, Schematic Design, Design Development, Construction Documents and Construction Administration. This role collaborates closely with Directors, Principals, and Associate Principals to ensure projects meet deadlines, stay within budget, and uphold PBK's standards for quality and client satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop innovative concepts and ideas for projects tailored to client needs.
- Lead or actively engage in design charrettes with clients and internal teams.
- Progress design concepts through all phases, including concept design, schematic design, and design development.
- Effectively present design proposals to clients and colleagues.
- Work hand-in-hand with Design Leadership to establish formats, assign drawing tasks, finalize deliverables, and maintain schedules.
- Bridge the gap between conceptual design and architectural execution.
- Demonstrate proficiency in interior finishes and current design trends.
- Supervise and mentor Architectural Designer teams assigned to projects.
- Ensure team members meet their commitments and project goals.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- At least 5 years of design experience; K-12, Higher Education, or large-scale Commercial experience preferred.
- Bachelor's Degree in Architecture.
- LEED accreditation is highly desired.
- Advanced skills in Photoshop, SketchUp, InDesign, Lumion, and AutoCAD; Revit knowledge is beneficial.
- Hand-sketching skills are advantageous.
- A strong focus on delivering excellent customer service.
- Capacity to manage multiple projects under pressure and prioritize effectively to meet tight deadlines.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
- Comfortable interacting with senior management, clients, and vendors.
- Quality-driven and self-motivated approach to work.
- Ability to thrive in a collaborative team environment and with senior leadership.
