About MAOarch
MAOarch is a boutique architecture and interior design studio focused on luxury retail environments. Established in 2018, the firm is NCARB-certified and licensed in 14 states. Its portfolio spans flagship and boutique projects for well-known global brands across the country, and the team is based in New York City with eleven members.
Role Overview
The studio is hiring an Architectural Designer with 3 to 5 years of professional experience. This position is highly design-led and calls for someone who approaches creative work with strong vision, thoughtful craft, and attention to detail throughout every stage of a project.
Key Work Areas
- Develop architectural and interior design concepts for luxury retail projects from the earliest ideas through project completion.
- Create mood boards and shape the overall design story.
- Select and source materials, finishes, furniture, fixtures, and equipment.
- Prepare schematic sketches and support early-stage design exploration.
- Build presentation materials for internal design reviews and client meetings.
- Contribute to construction drawings and technical detailing; although the role is primarily design-focused, involvement in CDs and related technical work is expected when required.
- Coordinate with consultants, contractors, and brand representatives.
Candidate Profile
The ideal applicant brings a strong visual sensibility, a disciplined approach to proportion and detail, and a solid technical base. Experience in retail projects is helpful, though candidates from other project types may also be considered if they demonstrate the right aesthetic judgment and curiosity about the luxury fashion and retail world.
