Job description

Role overview

A respected Melbourne architecture and design studio is looking for an experienced Architect to strengthen its residential team. The position focuses on substantial Class 2 multi-residential developments across Victoria, including apartment and mixed-use projects.

You will work alongside Project Leads and Directors on a studio with a healthy pipeline of secured work. The role is suited to someone with around 6 to 10 years of post-graduate experience who is comfortable handling the technical and delivery aspects of projects and wants increasing ownership of major work packages while still being supported by senior leadership.

This is not a Project Lead role, but it may suit a strong 2IC or Senior Architect who is ready for substantial project responsibility within collaborative teams.

Key responsibilities

In this role, you will be involved in the design, documentation, coordination and delivery of large-scale residential developments.

  • Advance the design and produce detailed documentation for major Class 2 residential projects
  • Prepare and manage Revit documentation sets
  • Coordinate consultant inputs across several disciplines
  • Ensure the work aligns with the NCC, relevant building regulations and project-specific requirements
  • Support projects from planning stages through to construction documentation
  • Assist with project coordination and guide junior team members when needed
  • Contribute to programming, technical problem-solving and quality assurance

Candidate profile

The studio is seeking an Architect who has built strong technical delivery capability in Australia and can work confidently on complex residential or mixed-use work.

  • Approximately 6 to 10 years of architectural experience in Australia
  • Proven background delivering multi-residential, mixed-use or Class 2 projects
  • Architect registration preferred
  • D7B Practitioner registration is highly regarded
  • Advanced Revit skills, including preparation and coordination of complex documentation packages
  • Solid understanding of Australian construction methods, NCC compliance and consultant coordination
  • Experience across Design Development, Documentation and Delivery stages
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management ability
  • Candidates from commercial, education, health, workplace or mixed-use backgrounds may also be considered if they can show strong technical delivery skills and advanced Revit capability

What is offered

This position offers the chance to work on prominent developments within a supportive and well-resourced environment.

  • Exposure to high-profile multi-residential and mixed-use projects
  • A strong volume of secured work
  • Collaborative project teams with good resourcing
  • Direct exposure to experienced Project Leads and Directors
  • Opportunities for career progression
  • Flexible and supportive studio culture
  • A competitive salary package aligned to experience
