About the role
This role offers a strong career-growth opportunity for an architect or designer who is ready to take responsibility for important parts of mid- to large-scale projects while supporting Senior Architects. The position calls for a professional, collaborative approach and close interaction with clients and internal teams to help deliver strong project outcomes.
What you will do
- Partner with the Principal-in-Charge on the development of project ideas and design direction, including solving challenging design issues.
- Serve as second-in-command to the Project Leader during design development and project delivery, taking ownership of allocated packages or project elements.
- Express design intent through sketches, diagrams, 3D studies, and technical drawings.
- Produce deliverables aligned with the brief, such as design reports, planning documentation, and full project documentation sets.
- Work with consultants and design partners, checking drawings and Revit models and helping resolve complex coordination matters.
- Track project risks, take steps to reduce them, and escalate concerns when needed.
- Assist the Project Leader in ensuring delivery standards remain high.
- Keep oversight of all design and production matters related to project outputs.
About you
The ideal candidate thrives in a collaborative, creative, and resourceful team setting. You should bring substantial experience across architectural design and construction stages, with the ability to contribute expertise that supports well-resolved, high-quality work.
Requirements
- Between 5 and 10 years of professional experience, or equivalent, in an architectural practice.
- A Master’s degree in Architecture.
- Experience in residential and mixed-use work is required; exposure to other building types is an advantage.
- Architect registration is strongly preferred.
- Proven involvement in design-led, design-elevated projects.
- Advanced skills in Revit and Rhino.
- Strong command of Adobe Creative Suite, especially InDesign and Photoshop.
- Ability to work independently to test, refine, and solve complex design problems.
- Experience across design development and project delivery.
- Solid technical understanding of architectural delivery requirements.
- Working knowledge of local NCC standards and regulatory obligations.
- Strong design judgment, curiosity, and a willingness to keep learning.
- Ability to collaborate effectively and mentor junior team members.
- Excellent communication skills for engaging with internal teams, clients, and consultants.
- Applicants must have the legal right to work in Australia, meaning Australian citizenship or permanent residency is required at the time of application.
- Applications should include an updated resume and portfolio, with a portfolio link recommended in the resume due to upload limitations.
- Unsolicited resumes or candidate names from agencies will not be accepted.
