Job description
Role overview
Sensient Technologies New Zealand is a rapidly expanding part of the Asia-Pacific Flavours & Colours group. The business supports customers around the world with quality food ingredients and has built its success on strong customer service, creative technology, and consistent product quality.
This position is suited to a highly driven professional who enjoys product development, colour selection, and technical support for both internal teams and customers. The role involves building and refining applications across multiple product types, with a strong emphasis on innovative formulation, process work, and evaluation. A sharp eye for detail and the willingness to learn quickly are important.
You will work closely with a motivated team while also being comfortable handling tasks independently. A strong customer focus, high standards for quality, and an entrepreneurial mindset are all important for success in this role.
Key responsibilities
- Develop fresh product concepts using the company’s flavours, colours, and natural extracts, benchmark competitor products, and prepare attractive food and beverage prototypes.
- Handle customer briefs, advise clients on effective use of the ingredient and colour portfolio, and investigate technical problems to support complaint resolution.
- Run scale-up trials, support efficient manufacturing, and partner with quality teams to resolve batch issues and shelf-life concerns.
- Use analytical tools to assess colour matches, quality, and shelf-life issues, then prepare reports for both internal stakeholders and external clients.
- Work as a technical partner to the sales team during workshops and help customers apply the colouring portfolio effectively.
What you should bring
- A bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Food Technology, Chemistry, or another applied science field.
- At least 3 to 5+ years of experience in formulation or product development, ideally in beverages, dairy, confectionery, or bakery.
- Strong communication ability and solid knowledge of ingredient technology, flavour and colour interactions, and food processing.
Additional information
This is an onsite role with a five-day-per-week office/worksite presence.
The company offers an attractive salary package, benefits, and development opportunities.
New hires receive a structured onboarding and training experience, with ongoing support after joining.
Because visa sponsorship is not available, applicants must already have the legal right to work in New Zealand without employer-sponsored immigration support.
