The role focuses on early issue detection, performance troubleshooting, and ongoing optimization in live production environments.
Experience and team requirement
The position requires at least 4 years of hands-on experience in APM, and the engagement is for 3 engineers.
Mandatory APM platform certification
Applicants must hold at least one valid certification from an APM platform. Preferred and accepted options include Dynatrace, AppDynamics, and New Relic.
- Dynatrace certification is preferred, such as DCA or DCP.
- AppDynamics certification: Cisco AppDynamics Certified Performance Analyst.
- New Relic certification: New Relic Certified Performance Pro.
Key responsibilities
- Install, configure, and administer APM agents across web, microservices, and API environments.
- Create dashboards and alert rules to track SLA/SLO performance and spot anomalies.
- Investigate performance drops, latency spikes, and related root causes.
- Connect APM tools with ITSM systems such as ServiceNow and Jira to support incident correlation.
- Observe containerized systems and cloud-native workloads running on Kubernetes and Docker.
- Set and monitor baseline metrics, including throughput, error rates, and Apdex values.
- Assist with capacity planning using performance trend data from APM tools.
Required skills and experience
- Minimum 4 years of practical experience with Dynatrace, AppDynamics, or New Relic in live production environments.
- Strong understanding of web application monitoring across Java, .NET, and Node.js stacks.
- Experience monitoring microservices and APIs, including REST and GraphQL, with awareness of service mesh setups.
- Familiarity with log analytics tools such as Splunk, ELK, or similar platforms.
- Basic scripting ability for automation using Python or Shell.
- Working knowledge of ITIL foundations.
Preferred capabilities
- Exposure to cloud monitoring tools such as OCI, AWS CloudWatch, or Azure Monitor.
- Familiarity with OpenTelemetry and distributed tracing concepts.
- Experience with Kubernetes observability stacks such as Prometheus and Grafana.
Submission requirement for evaluation
Every profile submitted must include a valid APM platform certificate, at least one documented project example covering web, microservices, or API monitoring, and proof of at least 4 years of verifiable APM-specific experience. Generic infrastructure monitoring experience will not be considered sufficient.
