Job description
Role overview
We are seeking an Anti-Money Laundering Analyst to review and assess alerts tied to potentially suspicious financial activity. The role centers on analyzing transactions, carrying out preliminary case work, and keeping clear records that support compliance with AML standards. Success in this position calls for sharp analytical thinking, strong accuracy, and a practical understanding of AML processes.
Core duties
- Examine AML alerts generated in FCRM and look for warning signs such as structuring, elevated or unusual transaction volumes, irregular activity patterns, or meaningful changes in customer behavior.
- Assess each alert in the context of the most recent 30 days of account activity to understand normal behavior, identify trends, and judge whether the activity appears legitimate.
- Review customer profiles by comparing internal records and related information to confirm expected account usage.
- Run basic investigations through internal tools and external sources to build background on transactions, parties involved, and possible risk indicators.
- Decide whether an alert can be closed with clear supporting rationale or whether it should be escalated for deeper review by senior investigators or compliance teams.
- Record findings, analysis, and decision reasoning in the required FCRM format with accuracy and completeness so records remain audit-ready.
- Follow Bank Secrecy Act requirements, OFAC standards, internal AML procedures, and applicable regulatory guidance in every review.
- Help strengthen AML controls by spotting recurring issues, suspicious patterns, or process gaps.
Skills and working style
This role requires consistency, strong focus, and the ability to perform structured, repetitive work without losing quality. Candidates should be comfortable working in a fast-moving environment, managing time well, and meeting production and quality expectations. The job also calls for strong investigative judgment, the ability to interpret data carefully, and confidence working with financial products, transaction activity, and common AML red flags.
Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Economics, Criminal Justice, Accounting, or a similar discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
- At least 2 to 4+ years of experience in AML, fraud, compliance, banking operations, or financial services.
- Experience with case management or transaction monitoring platforms such as FCRM is helpful but not mandatory.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain findings clearly.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Excel, Word, and Outlook.
Preferred background
- CAMS, CFE, or another compliance-related certification that is completed or in progress.
- Prior exposure to AML alert review, KYC, fraud investigation, or risk management work.
- Familiarity with customer due diligence and enhanced due diligence practices.
- Experience using bank systems, sanctions screening tools, or third-party data sources.
Benefits
- Discretionary annual incentive.
- Medical, dental, vision, disability, and pet insurance coverage.
- Maternal and parental leave support.
- Auto and home insurance options, plus identity theft protection.
- Commuter support and reimbursement for certification and training.
- Vacation, sick leave, holidays, and other time-off benefits.
- Legal assistance, 401(k) plan, performance bonus, college fund support, and student loan refinancing.
Compensation
Annual pay is listed at USD 50,000 to 75,000.
