About the Role and Studio
Disney Television Animation (DTVA) is a well-established creator of children and family entertainment for over forty years, integral to The Walt Disney Company. DTVA produces a range of content including traditional 2D, rig-based 2D, CG (preschool and premium), and stop-motion animations across a diversity of artistic styles, aiming to match the appropriate talent to each unique production.
Job Responsibilities
- Ensure all production materials, files, and media sent to vendor studios are accurate, complete, and consistent to reduce post-production expenses.
- Review storyboards in Storyboard Pro for completeness, including scene descriptions, character actions, camera movements, effects, and notes for each panel within scenes.
- Collaborate with Directors and Production to include any revised storyboard panels from animatics and coordinate with Editors to adjust animatics accordingly after confirmation.
- Verify that scene numbers, action notes, camera movements, effects, character names, special notes, hook-ups, and lighting sources are correctly documented on storyboards and X-sheets where applicable, ensuring consistency among storyboards, X-sheets, and animatics.
- Confirm character reactions, expressions, and movements follow standard cycles like walk/run sheets.
- When X-sheets are involved, check lip assignments to ensure proper mouth chart usage.
- Review scene cuts to confirm they align with animatics; coordinate with Directors and Timing Directors to resolve discrepancies.
- Ensure all X-sheet elements like camera moves, lip sync, action notes, abbreviations, and scene/panel numbers are accurate.
- Generate the final route sheet within Insight software.
- Input final footage and deliver checked materials to Production for shipment to vendor studios.
Qualifications and Skills
- Advanced proficiency with Mac and PC platforms.
- Experience with Storyboard Pro software.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Excel and Insight software or the aptitude to learn proprietary tools quickly.
- Background or training in Traditional 2D, Harmony, and CG Animation Pipelines preferred.
- Demonstrated attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Effective written and verbal communication abilities.
- Capability to work cooperatively under deadlines managing multiple tasks.
- Willingness to accept guidance and adapt to changes.
Education
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience required.
Work Location
- This position requires full-time, on-site presence in Glendale, California.
Additional Information
The hourly pay rate for this position in California ranges from 46 to 55 USD, consistent with the Collective Bargaining Agreement. Actual compensation may vary based on candidate location, expertise, skills, and experience. Additional benefits including medical and financial packages may be available depending on the position level. Applications for this role will be accepted until December 31, 2026.
