Job description
Position Overview
This role is stationed at the Pet Boarding facility located in Fort Stewart, GA. The position involves daily care and maintenance of animals and their enclosures to ensure their health and well-being.
Key Responsibilities
- Regular cleaning and disinfection of animal cages, runs, and kennel areas, performed daily or as instructed, including sanitation of all feeding and watering containers after each use.
- Providing daily fresh food and water to all confined animals while protecting them from adverse weather and potential harm from other animals. Handling aggressive animals requires cautious and skilled approaches.
- Observing each animal daily to detect signs of illness, infestation, weight loss, or unusual behavior, and reporting any issues promptly to the supervisor.
- Administering topical or oral medications under supervisor guidance and documenting treatments accordingly.
- Performing additional tasks as assigned by management.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Must provide a valid Social Security Card and set up Direct Deposit for pay.
- Meet necessary background checks including a Tier 1 background investigation and physical examination.
- Willingness and physical ability to lift animals or objects weighing up to 75 pounds frequently and handle items up to 20 pounds.
- Capability to stand or walk for extended durations and often work in a stooped posture.
- Exposure to indoor and outdoor work environments, including unpleasant odors, noises, heat, weather, and potential contact with animal bites, scratches, wastes, and contagious diseases.
- Possess knowledge of normal animal behaviors and appearances to identify issues like fur loss, sickness, pregnancy, or signs of fighting.
- Understanding of animals’ feeding requirements and ability to adjust food amounts accordingly.
- Skill in identifying animals by tattoos, tags, or other markings and proficient in managing aggressive animals.

- Applicants should live within a 50-mile commuting area of Fort Stewart/Hunter Army Airfield, GA. Military spouse and involuntarily separated military preferences are applicable.
- Permanent Change of Station (PCS) relocation costs are not authorized for this position.
- Employment is under the Federal Wage Schedule system, with eligibility for overtime pay, Sunday premiums, and late-shift differentials when applicable.
- Access to some federal facilities may require a REAL ID-compliant or Enhanced Driver's License.
