Reporting directly to the Director of M&A and Strategy, the position entails significant engagement with senior leadership and board-level executives in a fast-growing alternative asset management firm. This opportunity is ideal for skilled banking analysts aspiring to build a long-term corporate strategy career within alternatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain sophisticated financial models related to potential acquisition targets and internal business forecasts.
  • Assess transaction architectures, valuation factors, earnouts, and financing details.
  • Produce comprehensive transaction financial analyses including accretion and dilution metrics, internal rate of return, and comparative analyses with public and private market benchmarks.
  • Support due diligence activities by integrating financial, operational, and market data into insightful conclusions.
  • Assist in the evaluation, negotiation, and execution of M&A deals and strategic partnerships.
  • Prepare detailed materials for deal committees and board presentations regarding potential transactions.
  • Coordinate with internal teams and external consultants throughout transactions and integration periods.
  • Help manage the integration process post-acquisition, leading cross-functional project management efforts.
  • Conduct valuation research and market analysis on peer companies, including trading multiples and precedent transactions.
  • Monitor and analyze disclosures, earnings reports, and investor communications to guide shareholder strategies and identify private market opportunities.
  • Maintain an internal customer relationship management (CRM) system tracking ongoing M&A pipelines and potential targets.
  • Create polished and analytically sound presentations for senior management and board meetings that effectively communicate complex analyses and recommendations.
  • Fulfill additional duties and special projects as assigned by leadership.

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, or a related discipline.
  • 2 to 3 years of professional experience in investment banking (preferably Financial Institutions Group, Asset Management, M&A, or Leveraged Finance) and/or corporate development with a financial institution focus.
  • Demonstrated keen interest in alternative asset classes and private market sectors.
  • Strong proficiency in financial modeling and valuation techniques.
  • Advanced capabilities in Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Experience using financial research databases such as CapitalIQ and PitchBook.
  • Comprehensive understanding of financial statements and accounting principles.
  • Meticulous attention to detail with a track record of preparing high-quality investor-level materials.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with confidence in engaging senior executives.
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines within a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
  • Willingness to commit to extended working hours as necessary.
  • Flexibility to travel approximately 10–15%.
