About ESPN Research

ESPN Research employs a variety of media research methodologies such as Nielsen, comScore, Adobe Analytics, alongside primary data collection to deliver insights on sports performance and content across ESPN and the Walt Disney Company. The team is responsible for metrics, measurement, and comprehensive reporting across all platforms and properties. They also conduct research concerning brand presence, content impact, fan engagement, and market dynamics.

Position Overview

The Live Sports & Forecasting Analyst works closely with their manager in monitoring and reporting cross-platform sports content performance, covering live events and studio programming for leagues including NBA, NHL, MLB, and WWE. The role demands supporting network operations by ensuring daily, accurate input of program schedules into Nielsen's NCL system and ESPN's internal systems. A successful candidate will be inquisitive, meticulous, capable of multitasking, and proactive in suggesting improvements to reporting processes.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Daily submission and management of ESPN network program schedules to Nielsen.
  • Monitoring and reporting on the performance of ESPN's TV and streaming content, summarizing key insights for various departments.
  • Analyzing audience trends for ESPN and competitor networks to aid programming, production, sales, and strategic decision-making.
  • Collaborating on custom research projects under managerial guidance within ESPN Research.
  • Supporting audience forecasting for linear ESPN networks, assisting Finance and Revenue Management teams.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Fundamental knowledge of media mathematics and data analysis techniques.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint on Windows platforms.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with strong attention to detail and multitasking ability.
  • Team-oriented mindset and capability to collaborate effectively within groups.
  • Passionate about sports and well-versed in the sports media environment.

Preferred Experience

  • At least one year of experience in media research.
  • Familiarity with Nielsen national TV tools such as NNTV and National TV Toolbox.
  • Knowledge of Comscore and Adobe Analytics platforms.
  • Experience using visualization and data tools like Power BI, Tableau, and SQL.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Preferred fields of study include communications, mathematics/statistics, psychology, or related disciplines.

Compensation and Benefits

The salary range for this position in New York, NY, is between $66,800 and $91,700 annually. In Bristol, CT, the range is $65,270 to $87,560 per year. Final pay will consider factors such as internal equity, the candidate's location, relevant expertise, and experience. Additional compensation may include bonuses or long-term incentive units. A comprehensive benefits package covering medical, financial, and other support will be offered depending on the role's level and position.
