About the Role

The Infrastructure Finance & Advisory division provides expert counsel on financing infrastructure projects, partnering with coverage, product, and sales teams to craft and implement funding strategies across sectors such as transportation, energy, utilities, and social infrastructure. Based in London, this team primarily serves Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, leveraging deep expertise in project finance, bonds, loans, structured products, and derivatives.

Role Overview

As a first-year Analyst in the Investment Banking Division, you will support business development and transaction execution by preparing financial analyses and marketing content, coordinating deliverables, and assisting the team in delivering sound advice to clients. Comprehensive training, hands-on experience, and mentoring from senior colleagues will be provided. Exposure spans acquisition finance, greenfield and brownfield projects, refinancing, restructuring, recapitalizations, ratings advisory, and capital structuring.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and update Excel financial models with guidance, conducting fundamental financial and risk evaluations for infrastructure projects across various regions and sectors.
  • Assist in due diligence by gathering data, reviewing documentation, summarizing findings, and evaluating credit risks and possible risk mitigations.
  • Draft initial versions of client-facing documents including financing proposals, investor presentations, and materials for roadshows, pitches, and rating agencies.
  • Collaborate with internal teams such as coverage, product groups, and stakeholders to track workflow, manage schedules, and facilitate transaction execution.
  • Support client and advisor meetings by preparing materials, documenting discussions, tracking follow-ups, and noting action items.
  • Help senior team members review and organize financing documentation and manage workflows associated with term sheets and transaction documents.
  • Conduct research on industries, markets, and companies to bolster pitches and ongoing client work and provide concise summaries of findings.

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent with strong academic records.
  • Internship experience in investment banking, corporate finance, infrastructure, private equity, or related fields is advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Proficient quantitative and analytical capabilities; comfortable using Excel and PowerPoint and eager to improve these skills.
  • Genuine interest in infrastructure finance and willingness to understand technical concepts such as project finance structures, credit evaluation, and debt instruments.
  • High attention to detail and capacity to balance multiple tasks with team support.
  • Ability to perform under pressure and meet tight deadlines within a collaborative environment.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills coupled with a professional demeanor when engaging internal and external parties.

Preferred Attributes

  • Experience or academic exposure to infrastructure or project finance through courses, internships, or extracurricular activities.
  • Basic knowledge of financial modeling and credit analysis, with training to be provided.
