Role Overview

We are looking for a Financial Analyst specialized in Film Finance to join our growing Finance department at our Sheridan Park location. This position works closely with the Film Finance Manager and partners with various teams including Finance, Distribution, and Legal to support IMAX’s film development, production, and distribution efforts.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage full-cycle accounting and prepare financial reports related to IMAX’s documentary and theatrical film projects.
• Validate box office data and assist in royalty settlements and participation statement preparation.
• Maintain and foster relationships with studio partners while striving for ongoing process enhancements within the Film Finance function.
• Perform monthly revenue recognition, accruals, true-ups, journal entries, and calculate film asset amortization based on revenue forecasts.
• Support month-end close processes, including journal entries, account reclassifications, and reconciliations using BlackLine.
• Review film contracts to confirm financial terms for accurate billing and revenue recognition.
• Coordinate with studios and distribution partners to verify and reconcile box office reports.
• Compute royalties and prepare invoices adhering to contract terms.
• Help with financial reporting, variance analysis, management reporting, audit requests, and payment documentation review.
• Engage in special projects focusing on financial process automation and AI-driven improvements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
• CPA certification or active pursuit preferred.
• At least three years’ experience in Financial Analysis or Corporate Accounting within a large, multinational, or publicly traded company.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles; familiarity with U.S. GAAP is advantageous.
• Advanced Excel skills and experience with SAP, BlackLine, or similar ERP/accounting platforms.
• Excellent analytical, financial modeling, problem-solving, organizational, written, and verbal communication abilities.
• Capable of managing multiple priorities and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Desirable Experience

• Background in film, media, entertainment, or royalty accounting.
• Understanding of revenue recognition, participation accounting, and distribution agreements.
• Familiarity with SAP, BlackLine, and financial reporting tools.
• Industry experience in Entertainment, Media, Film Distribution, Production, or Corporate Finance.
• Involvement in financial process improvements, automation, or AI-enhanced initiatives.

Additional Information

This role is currently open and integral to our staffing plan.

Salary range is CAD 57,489 to CAD 71,860 annually. The final salary within this span will depend on experience, skills, equity considerations, and location. Additional non-discretionary compensation may apply if eligible.
