Important notes

  • This is a 12-month fixed-term contract.
  • Visa sponsorship is not available for this opportunity.
  • Relocation support is not provided.
  • Applications close on 13 July.
  • Hires are expected to join as individual contributors within a cohort.
  • The role requires onsite presence in the office five days a week, with occasional work-from-home flexibility only by exception.

Who this program is for

The program welcomes candidates from three backgrounds: former military or police professionals, former professional athletes, and career returners who have been away from corporate work for at least 18 months.

  • Former military or police professionals can use leadership, discipline, and operational experience in a business setting.
  • Former professional athletes can bring resilience, goal focus, and teamwork into a new career path.
  • Career returners should have prior corporate experience and be coming back after a break of at least 18 months.

What the program offers

Selected candidates join a business-as-usual role in Consumer, with typical placements in account management, vendor management, business development, product management, or program management. Amazon provides onboarding, role-based learning, and dedicated support to help participants transition successfully.

About Amazon Consumer

Consumer is the group behind the shopping experience customers see on Amazon. The team helps shape product discovery, checkout, delivery, and the systems that make the customer journey fast and seamless. The work spans search and recommendations, payments, and global delivery operations at very large scale.

Amazon describes its culture as customer-focused, inventive, operationally excellent, and long-term oriented.

Support and development

  • 12 months of paid employment.
  • Placement in Consumer-facing functions such as vendor, product, or program management.
  • Support to refresh your skills, update your resume, and expand your professional network.
  • A dedicated Amazon mentor.
  • A buddy to help you get up to speed in the role.
  • Access to selected training and learning resources.
  • Networking opportunities with senior leaders from Amazon and AWS.
  • On completion, you may apply for open roles within Amazon or AWS, though no specific role or offer is guaranteed.
  • All hires enter as individual contributors, even if they have prior people-management experience or more than 10 years in industry.

Basic qualifications

  • At least 4 years of military or police experience after initial training.
  • You must have left military or police service no later than 12 months before the program starts, or have been in full-time education or otherwise out of the workforce since leaving.
  • You must already have the right to work in Germany.
  • Strong English communication skills, both spoken and written, at C1 level or above.

Preferred profile

  • A bachelor’s degree.
  • A proven record of solving problems and delivering results in demanding, fast-moving environments.
  • Comfort with ambiguity and the ability to lead change without detailed direction.
  • Capability to balance strategic and hands-on thinking while staying detail-oriented across multiple workstreams.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office tools, including Excel.
