Airside Facilities and FOD Team Member

Role overview

This position is part of airside facilities and foreign object debris (FOD) control work at Dublin Airport. The job follows a “follow the work” approach and involves supporting Airfield Asset Management with practical operational tasks such as grass cutting, equipment escorting, towing equipment, and painting. Support for landside operations may also be required when needed.

The role is rostered on a 24/7 shift pattern and reports to the Airside Player Supervisor and the Service Delivery Manager for Airside. daa may create a panel from this campaign to cover future vacancies that arise.

Responsibilities

• Keep airside zones clear of FOD so aircraft are protected from damage.
• Use heavy vehicles and equipment safely when operating near aircraft.
• Support Airside Operations & Safety Officers and Asset Management during aircraft incidents.
• Recover glycol sprayed on the airside to reduce environmental impact at DUB.
• Carry out anti-icing and de-icing on apron areas during cold weather to keep operations safe.
• Maintain accurate records of recovered glycol and potassium acetate application.
• Assist with clean-up work following incidents involving aircraft or vehicles.
• Respond quickly to airside spills and limit environmental effects.
• Help the Airside Operations Management Team with operational needs.
• Contribute to risk assessments related to FOD control and broader airside activity.
• Work with RT beyond the ATC red line for FOD recovery, spill response, and winter operations after completing the required training and passing it within 6 months of the role being awarded.
• Remove equipment from the apron when it is not compliant with safe operating practices, as directed by Airside Operations.
• Tow ground support equipment when requested by Airside Operations.
• Support RFFS with clean-up and FOD removal from runways after bird or wildlife strikes.
• Move delta blocks to help maintain safe roadways, following designated safe operating practices.
• Act as a banks person when required.
• Complete other duties requested by Airside Operations & Safety Officers.
• Assist Asset Management with planned works including airfield grassland and hedgerow maintenance, storm water drainage upkeep, airfield paint marking and removal, and RT escort duties for external contractors.
• Provide vehicle escort duties as needed.
• Be prepared to take on other tasks outside normal daily duties when asked, provided the work is within the employee’s training and capability.

Requirements

• Hold a full clean driving licence covering B, BE, C and W categories.
• A full clean C licence is strongly preferred.
• If selected without a C licence, the required lessons must be completed and passed within 6 months of the role being awarded.
• Previous airside experience and knowledge of airline and airport operations would be an advantage.
• Experience in an outdoor operational environment is needed.
• Have a strong customer-service mindset and a commitment to efficient service delivery for stakeholders.

• Bring good interpersonal skills.
• Be willing to work flexibly.
• Work well as part of a team.
• Specialised vehicle training is desirable.
• Understand the DUB Winter Snow & Ice Plan.

• Have awareness of the Aerodrome Manual and the Airside Safety Management System.
• Understand the duty of care owed to yourself, others and the environment while working airside.
• Be committed to daa values and new ways of working.
