Aircraft Load Planner

Role overview

Amentum is hiring an Aircraft Load Planner to certify aircraft loading plans for U.S. military missions and to help build shipment plans for air movements from CONUS to OCONUS, as well as between OCONUS locations. The role focuses on ensuring aircraft cargo, baggage, and passenger loads are planned safely, accurately, and in line with aircraft limitations.

What you will do

• Confirm that cargo, baggage, and passenger weight is distributed within safety rules and aircraft operating limits.
• Provide planning guidance and recommendations to support estimates for selecting the appropriate aircraft for each load.
• Examine aircraft weight-and-balance documentation and cargo manifests.
• Work out how many passengers, troops, or cargo items can be loaded and where they should be positioned on the aircraft.
• Calculate load distribution and overall cargo placement.
• Determine weight and balance details, including the amount of weight assigned to each compartment or station while taking fuel load, structural limits, and required emergency equipment into account.
• Use military AALPS and ICODES systems to prepare aircraft load plans for USAF cargo aircraft.
• Work with U.S. Army units and Air Force Loadmasters so that cargo is loaded correctly onto aircraft.

Required experience and knowledge

• At least 2 years of experience using Automated Air Load Planning System (AALPS) and/or Integrated Computerized Deployment System (ICODES); ICODES experience is preferred.
• At least 2 years of experience using Global Air Transportation Execution System (GATES).
• At least 2 years of experience using Global Decision Support System II (GDSS II).
• High school diploma or equivalent qualification.
• Ability to qualify for and keep DoD HAZMAT Inspector certification.
• Strong communication skills for working with military and civilian stakeholders.
• Sound judgment when balancing competing priorities and choosing the best customer-focused solution.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Self-directed working style with the ability to perform independently for extended periods.

Work setting

The assignment location may involve remote and difficult living and working conditions. The job can include long working hours, exposure to weather and hazardous environments, and the need to relocate on short notice under challenging circumstances. Domestic and international travel may be required.

• Support Amentum’s safety culture by helping maintain a safe work environment, completing required training, providing self-aid and buddy-aid support, responding to emergencies when needed, and taking part in safety committees or teams.
