Company Overview

OMass Therapeutics is a biotech firm based in Oxford dedicated to discovering medicines targeting well-validated ecosystems like membrane proteins and intracellular complexes. Their proprietary OdyssION17 technology platform integrates innovative biochemistry methods, advanced native mass spectrometry, and custom chemistry. They are advancing a portfolio of small-molecule therapies for rare and immunological diseases targeting solute carriers, complex-bound proteins, and GPCRs, with a lead program anticipated to begin clinical trials in the second half of 2026.

Role Overview

We are looking for an AI Transformation Lead to join our innovative team. You will play a key role in embedding AI and emerging technologies throughout our life sciences operations, accelerating progress from discovery through clinical development. This position offers collaboration in state-of-the-art facilities alongside a passionate team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the AI Committee agenda which includes representatives from IT and various business areas.
  • Collaborate with departments such as discovery science, non-clinical and clinical development, finance, and business development to identify valuable AI opportunities and facilitate their adoption.
  • Evaluate and regulate new AI tool investments with respect to business needs, costs, security, and regulatory compliance.
  • Partner with IT to develop and implement a practical, scalable AI strategy suited for a capital-efficient preclinical biotechnology environment.
  • Develop and conduct training and workshops to enhance AI capabilities across all employee levels, including monthly interactive sessions.
  • Establish shared resources like prompt libraries, standard tool settings, best practice guidelines, and governance procedures for AI use.
  • Keep leadership informed on the evolving external AI landscape, including tools, regulations, and industry trends.
  • Foster open communication and interdepartmental collaboration to support various projects and company objectives.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Degree in life sciences, chemistry, or related fields; advanced degrees preferred if experience is not extensive.
  • Understanding of drug development pipelines from target identification to early clinical phases.
  • Extensive practical experience with AI tools including large language models and AI-driven research tools pertinent to biotech such as Claude or Copilot.
  • Ability to critically assess AI tools both technically and practically.
  • Proven experience facilitating technological change with operational and commercial awareness in resource-limited settings.
  • Strong communication skills enabling effective liaison among IT, risk management, and business units.
  • Innovative, agile problem solver eager to learn and tackle complex challenges.
  • Capable of independent and team work, managing priorities to meet high-quality targets within deadlines.
  • Respectful, inclusive, and collaborative with diverse ideas and perspectives.
  • Preferred: Familiarity with AI applications across multiple drug development areas, experience initiating AI programs in smaller organizations, scripting and API skills, working with IT teams on tool integration, and knowledge of AI governance in regulated industries.
  • Experience in change management is a plus.
