Job description

Role Summary

This is a remote, full-time technical leadership role focused on strengthening frontier AI models through careful evaluation, failure analysis, and repeated improvement cycles. The position centers on building machine-learning-focused data systems, turning complex real-world problems into structured testing frameworks, and partnering with researchers and subject-matter experts to lift model performance in sensitive areas such as finance, healthcare, and engineering.

The role has a direct influence on how AI systems learn, reason, and perform in high-stakes settings by connecting human expertise with advanced AI training workflows.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead research and evaluation work from start to finish, including problem definition, data planning, quality calibration, and validation of signals.
  • Build ML-oriented data systems with clear task definitions, annotation structures, grading rubrics, incentive mechanisms, and pipelines designed to improve downstream model outcomes.
  • Study model and system breakdowns to uncover root causes, unusual edge cases, and practical improvement opportunities.
  • Convert unclear real-world behaviors into structured evaluation methods and newly defined data categories.
  • Continuously refine evaluations, datasets, and feedback loops to raise the quality of model and system performance.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Experience judging research signals for AI/ML systems, including evaluation design and validation of experimental outcomes.
  • Strong background in ML data design, with the ability to create annotation schemas and rubrics that support training goals.
  • Ability to connect operational insights with research needs and bridge domain expertise with technical implementation.
  • Practical experience with reinforcement learning environments or similar ML evaluation setups.
  • Experience designing and improving data pipelines that balance quality and speed in production environments.

Compensation

The payout for this role is between $600,000 and $2,000,000 per year.
