Job description

Role overview

Join Roland Berger’s newly established AI Lab and help build scalable generative AI solutions that create measurable value for both clients and internal teams. The goal of the lab is to expand AI capabilities quickly and securely across the firm and its client work.

What you will do

In this position, you will develop and deliver advanced AI applications for external client projects and internal use cases. You will work closely with the AI team to solve practical business problems and translate them into robust technical solutions.

You will write clean, well-structured code that supports reliable and scalable machine learning and AI systems. Your work will include building multimodal agents and automating workflows using Python, Databricks, SQL, Docker, and LangGraph.

You will also help set up the tooling and infrastructure needed to deploy AI models on cloud environments such as Azure, AWS, or GCP. Clear documentation, stakeholder communication, and client-facing presentations will be part of the role, along with keeping pace with developments in data science and generative AI.

Requirements

The role calls for a university degree with strong academic results in a quantitative or technical discipline, along with 2–3 years of relevant professional experience. Experience in consulting, such as project-based work, client interaction, or exposure to consulting methods, is also important.

You should have hands-on exposure to generative AI models or frameworks and MLOps tooling, plus a solid understanding of modern machine learning and GenAI approaches. Strong Python skills for data processing and machine learning work are required, together with practical knowledge of SQL or PySpark for working with data.

Comfort with cloud platforms and DevOps practices is expected. You should also be able to communicate effectively in both English and German and succeed in a fast-moving, collaborative environment.

Application details

Applicants are expected to submit a CV, high school diploma, certificates for all academic degrees, employment references including internship certificates, and proof of semesters spent abroad through the online application portal. The company also notes that it is looking for candidates with an entrepreneurial mindset and a confident, winning personality.
