Job description
Overview
Kraken, part of Payward, is building modern financial infrastructure that supports a more open and globally connected financial system. The organization operates one of the longest-running crypto platforms in the world and serves more than 10 million individuals and institutions across multiple regions.
The Global Finance function supports accounting, FP&A, treasury, tax, and finance operations across regulated entities in 70+ countries. This role is focused on reducing manual work, strengthening controls, and designing an AI-native finance operating model that can scale with the business.
The position is based in the United Arab Emirates and is a full-time onsite role.
Role summary
You will act as the main architect and hands-on builder for the finance automation platform. The work spans immediate production automation as well as the longer-term redesign of how finance systems, workflows, controls, and reporting operate together.
Key workstreams
This role covers five major areas: evaluating finance operations, designing the agentic finance architecture, delivering production automation, establishing governance for AI use in finance, and creating reusable foundations for future teams.
Finance operations assessment
- Review how finance work currently moves through the business, including close, reconciliations, treasury, reporting, controls validation, and audit support.
- Pinpoint manual bottlenecks, missing capabilities, and points where integrations break across systems such as NetSuite, BlackLine, Kyriba, Fireblocks, and Lukka.
- Compare current processes with leading practices and available AI capabilities to shape a prioritized automation roadmap based on business impact and regulatory exposure.
- Partner with accounting, FP&A, treasury, and finance operations teams to convert process pain points into practical automation requirements.
Agentic finance architecture
- Design the future-state architecture for an AI-native finance operating system and define how agentic systems connect with financial infrastructure, data pipelines, controls, and reporting.
- Review the current finance technology stack from the ground up, including platforms, interfaces, and data movement, then identify ways to simplify operations and reduce manual intervention.
- Create an agentic finance layer that can work with the existing stack today while also setting the direction for a more scalable AI-native target state.
Production automation delivery
- Build and launch production-ready agent workflows for reconciliations, close activities, audit and reporting preparation, treasury monitoring, financial analysis, and control testing.
- Use modern AI and automation tools such as Claude, Anthropic APIs, Python orchestration, n8n or similar workflow engines, and MCP-style agent coordination layers.
- Connect APIs, internal tools, and external data sources into unified workflows that create meaningful operational leverage.
- Keep human review in the loop where needed and design solutions for traceability and control integrity, not efficiency alone.
AI governance for finance
- Create safeguards so automation can run safely in a SOX-regulated finance environment.
- Define which controls remain unchanged, which can be redesigned, and how workflow scope protects control integrity.
- Develop rules for data classification, traceability, human checkpoints, failure detection, rollback procedures, compliance, and audit-ready documentation.
- Assign every automation build a risk tier before development starts and ensure no solution reaches production without an identified process owner, documented data flows, confirmed access controls, and audit logging.
- Represent the finance function in Kraken’s Automate Everything Center of Excellence and help shape governance standards and cross-functional build alignment.
Foundation building and enablement
- Develop reusable templates, frameworks, and documentation so future finance team members can extend the platform without relying on one specialist.
- Train finance professionals to use AI-assisted workflows and tools already in production, driving adoption and independent use.
- Create dashboards, metrics, and performance measures that track efficiency gains, cost reduction, risk impact, and return on investment from automation work.
- Report progress and outcomes to leadership, including operational improvements, risk posture, and the finance automation roadmap.
Candidate profile
This position is intended for a technical systems builder who has already deployed agentic AI solutions in real production settings. The ideal person can move from discovery to architecture, build, deployment, and ongoing optimization without needing outside consultants.
