Job description

Role overview

Kids Inc is hiring part-time Afterschool Flexi Relief Team Members to support its Wicklow services for the 2026/2027 school term. This position begins on 26 August 2026 and is based onsite in County Wicklow, Ireland.

The role is designed to help children enjoy a safe, friendly, and stimulating environment after school. You will step in across a cluster of local Kids Inc centres in your assigned area, covering for staff absences, annual leave, training, and vacancies. You will not be required to travel across the entire county, only within your local allocation.

Kids Inc has more than 25 years of experience in childcare and operates over 70 onsite Breakfast and Afterschool programmes nationwide, in addition to Creche and Preschool services.

Pay and term details

The role is term-time and paid at an hourly rate. The current pay is €15.00 per hour, rising to €15.75 per hour from 1 October 2026.

What the job involves

  • Helping children settle in after the school day and easing them into the afternoon session
  • Providing homework support in a calm and structured setting
  • Taking part in and leading activities such as sports, games, arts and crafts, imaginative play, and outdoor play
  • Encouraging children’s social, emotional, physical, and creative growth
  • Developing positive working relationships with children, families, and team members across several services
  • Assisting with the daily operation of the afterschool programme when needed
  • Keeping the environment safe, inclusive, and engaging for every child

What we are looking for

  • Prior experience working with children is desirable
  • A dependable, upbeat, and proactive approach
  • Good communication and people skills
  • Real enthusiasm for working with children and supporting their development
  • Confident spoken and written English
  • Flexibility to provide relief cover across several schools in your assigned local area
  • A full driving licence is helpful but not mandatory
  • Willingness to complete Garda Vetting and reference verification

Additional information

Successful applicants will be placed in a local area based on where they live and will support multiple schools within that area. The role is open for the 2026/2027 school term. Candidates must complete Garda Vetting and may also need to provide a valid Police Clearance Certificate where applicable, specifically for anyone who has lived outside Ireland for more than six months since the age of 18.
