Role overview
Kids Inc. is hiring part-time Afterschool Childcare Assistants for its Rathfarnham and nearby school-based programmes for the 2026/2027 school term. This is a term-time position starting on 26 August 2026, offering a guaranteed minimum of 10 hours each week, with extra shifts often bringing the total to about 20 to 25 hours weekly.
The current hourly pay is €15.00, increasing to €15.75 per hour from 1 October 2026.
With more than 25 years in childcare, Kids Inc. operates over 70 onsite breakfast and afterschool programmes across Ireland, along with creche and preschool services. The afterschool setting is designed to give children a safe, welcoming, and enjoyable environment where they can unwind after school, receive homework support, and take part in enriching activities.

Placement will depend on the candidate's preferences and the organisation's operational needs.
What the role involves
- Helping children settle in smoothly after the school day and transition into the programme
- Providing calm, structured support for homework time
- Planning, leading, and joining in with activities such as sport, games, arts and crafts, imaginative play, and outdoor play
- Supporting children's social, emotional, physical, and creative growth
- Developing positive working relationships with children, families, and team members
- Contributing to the everyday running of the service
- Keeping the environment safe, inclusive, and engaging for every child
What we're looking for
- Experience working with children is preferred
- A dependable, upbeat, and proactive attitude
- Good communication and people skills
- Genuine interest in child development and supporting young learners
- Strong spoken and written English
- A full driving licence is beneficial but not required
- Willingness to complete Garda Vetting and reference verification
Pay and benefits

Additional information
All successful candidates must complete Garda Vetting and provide a valid Police Clearance Certificate where required, including for anyone who has lived outside Ireland for more than six months since the age of 18.
This role is part-time and term-time only. No remote working is available.
