Role Summary
The position reports to the Yard Supervisor and is pivotal in ensuring safe and efficient operations of the recycling facility. This is a permanent role on an afternoon shift, typically from 12:00 pm to 8:00 pm, with some flexibility required depending on operational demands. You will be hands-on operating various mobile plant machinery to process metals.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely unload trucks, trailers, and skip bins.
- Operate mobile machinery including forklifts, excavators, loaders, and material handlers to sort and process ferrous and non-ferrous metals.
- Assist in the receiving, processing, storage, and dispatch of recyclable materials.
- Maintain cleanliness and safety standards on-site through effective housekeeping.
- Adhere to all environmental, health, safety, and operational policies and promptly report hazards or unsafe conditions.
- Support general yard duties and help other operational areas as needed.
- Deliver excellent customer service and maintain positive interactions with drivers, customers, contractors, and visitors.
Candidate Profile
- Possession of a current forklift licence is preferred.
- Strong dedication to workplace health and safety protocols.
- Ability to work independently and demonstrate initiative.
- Flexible and willing to assist across different operational functions.
- Positive mindset and effective team collaboration skills.
- Knowledge of metal sorting, grading, and recycling processes is advantageous.
- Experience operating heavy mobile plant and equipment is valuable.
