Role Overview
As a WHS Advisor, you will be instrumental in delivering managerial and technical support for Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) practices across Sims' Western Australia facilities. Your responsibilities include designing, implementing, and evaluating risk management initiatives to foster a workplace culture where safety transcends compliance and becomes a core organizational value.
Key Responsibilities
- Recognize and assess hazards encompassing chemical, physical, and process-related risks.
- Create, execute, and update environmental health and occupational safety management plans.
- Oversee programs aimed at minimizing workplace incidents and environmental impact.
- Lead root cause investigations into major WHS/EHS non-compliances and provide critical risk ratings to facilitate informed decision-making.
- Serve as the main liaison for regulatory bodies, clients, and suppliers on inspections and EHS documentation.
- Manage workers’ compensation claims and coordinate the return-to-work processes.
Candidate Profile
- Possess tertiary qualifications in Environment, Health & Safety or equivalent professional experience.
- Have 2 to 4 years of advisory experience in safety and health within high-risk industries; familiarity with environmental compliance is advantageous.
- Proven skills in WHS incident investigation and managing return-to-work procedures.
- Excellent interpersonal, oral, written communication, and presentation abilities.
- Hold a valid driver's license and be willing to travel across Western Australia as required.
