About the Role
The Admissions Director at Pikes Peak Post Acute plays a crucial role in supporting facility operations by driving the facility census. This position involves managing the entire admissions process to ensure a seamless and positive experience for residents, their families, and supporting staff. The director is responsible for the daily operations of the Admissions Department, aiming to meet budgeted resident census goals through professional and efficient admissions.
Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage the admissions process to ensure a positive experience for residents, families, and staff.
- Plan, direct, and monitor the daily operations of the Admissions Department to achieve census goals.
- Admit patients to the healthcare facility, screening them based on admission criteria and completing necessary financial and admission forms.
- Develop, implement, and interpret programs, goals, and policies for the Sales and Marketing department.
- Collaborate with other facility department leaders to ensure effective communication and enhance the admissions experience.
- Verify insurance benefit coverage to meet admission standards.
- Coordinate and arrange for necessary support services, including transportation.
- Obtain applicant information through interviews and by requesting completed applications and medical data, clarifying information as needed.
- Maintain a comprehensive understanding of facility services and educate referral sources.
- Oversee patient bed assignments and the completion of preliminary admission paperwork.
- Complete additional facility-specific tasks and projects as assigned.
- Foster a warm, positive, and calm environment within the facility.
- Manage the resident intake process, coordinating with the Director of Nursing and/or Case Manager to ensure admission appropriateness and maintaining accurate bed availability records.
- Initiate, nurture, and maintain relationships with physicians, social workers, and discharge planners to maximize referrals and facilitate admissions.
- Attend daily stand-up meetings.
- Adhere to Standard Precautions, Exposure Control Plan, and emergency procedures.
- Maintain the confidentiality of all resident care information, including protected health information, and report any unauthorized disclosures.
- Protect the organization's reputation by maintaining confidentiality.
- Assist in planning and executing outreach events to attract referral sources.
- Stay updated on industry knowledge through educational opportunities and professional networks.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Bachelor's Degree in healthcare or a related field is preferred.
- Two years of admissions experience is preferred.
- LVN or RN license is preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite products is required.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations.
- Strong report writing and business correspondence skills.
- Effective presentation and communication skills.
- Ability to apply mathematical concepts like fractions, percentages, and proportions to practical situations.
- Problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret various instructions.
- Must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
- Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, read, and hear.
- Frequent use of office equipment such as copier, scanner, fax, telephone, and calculator.
- May need to assist in resident evacuation during emergencies.
