Job description

About Ascertain

Ascertain develops AI agents that take over administrative tasks for care teams, helping large health systems and specialty groups save many staff hours each week. The company is backed by Northwell Health and Deerfield Management, and its mission is to give healthcare teams back time, trust, and focus in a system under pressure.

Role Overview

This is a practical, high-volume operations role for someone who is comfortable owning tasks end to end while also supporting teammates. You will continue handling prior authorizations directly and also act as a reliable resource for other Ascertain Assistants. As workflows become more automated and connected to Ascertain’s platform, the position is expected to grow into a mix of operations and technology work.

The role is outcome-focused rather than a traditional shift-based desk job. It values accountability, sound judgment, and steady follow-through.

What You Will Do

As a Prior Authorization Assistant focused on Sleep Medicine, you will support Ascertain’s AI-enabled prior authorization offering and work closely with leadership and product teams as the process evolves. You will help shape how prior authorization is improved through modern AI tools, while working at the intersection of healthcare operations and technology.

You will partner with healthcare providers to reduce administrative workload and streamline complex workflows. Your work will include direct manual processing as well as oversight of automated submissions for office visits, referrals, procedures, pharmaceuticals, and similar requests. The position exposes you to a wide range of specialties, external stakeholders, and internal teams.

Additional Information

This opportunity is designed for someone with strong experience in prior authorizations and billing within Sleep Medicine. Experience with athenahealth or NextGen is important, along with familiarity with major insurers such as UnitedHealthcare, Aetna, and Blue Cross Blue Shield.

Preferred background includes client relationship experience, hands-on leadership such as Team Lead or Supervisor responsibilities, and comfort working with senior executives.

Working Style

Success in this role requires accuracy, teamwork, adaptability, empathy, and a process-minded approach. The work is hands-on, fast-moving, and suited to someone who is comfortable moving between established workflows and newer AI-supported tools.

Benefits

Ascertain offers access to advanced AI and automation work that has a direct impact on healthcare operations. The company emphasizes growth, ownership, and the chance to help shape products, technical direction, and culture at an early stage.

Other benefits include a collaborative team environment, competitive pay, equity, comprehensive health insurance, and the opportunity to contribute to meaningful improvements in healthcare delivery.

Compensation

The stated salary range is $45,000 to $55,000.

Why This Role Matters

Your work will have a direct effect on healthcare organizations and patient care, supporting Ascertain’s goal of transforming healthcare through AI.
