Role Overview
Become part of Emerson College by contributing to the admissions evaluation process. As an Admission Application Reviewer, you will play a vital role in assessing student applications and offering recommendations that influence the college's incoming student body. This role demands a strong attention to detail, comprehension of admission standards, and the ability to review diverse application components.
Key Responsibilities
- Thoroughly evaluate student applications including academic transcripts, personal statements, letters of recommendation, and test results.
- Adopt a comprehensive review method that assesses applicants' academic and extracurricular profiles.
- Provide recommendations guided by Emerson College's admission policies and criteria.
- Collaborate effectively with the admissions team to maintain consistency and equity in the review process.
- Take part in admissions committee deliberations to support decision-making.
- Ensure confidentiality and accuracy in maintaining evaluation records.
- Keep informed of current admission policies, especially regarding diversity and inclusion, ensuring these are incorporated in evaluations.
- Regularly analyze and suggest enhancements to improve the fairness and efficiency of admissions procedures.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- A minimum of a bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
- Preferably at least one year of related experience in admissions, counseling, or similar fields.
- Experience in higher education admissions processes is an advantage.
- Strong analytical thinking and decision-making capabilities.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Knowledge of academic documentation and standardized testing.
- Discretion in handling confidential information.
- A commitment to diversity and inclusion initiatives.
- Familiarity with international academic credentials and language proficiency tests like TOEFL and IELTS.
- Experience conducting holistic candidate evaluations.
- Comfort with computers and navigating web-based tools independently.
Physical and Work Environment Expectations
- The role involves mainly sedentary activity with occasional movement.
- Requires sustained mental focus and use of digital communication tools.
- Tasks require repeated motions such as typing and screen reading, including color recognition and detailed print.
- This is a part-time, remote position with a commitment of up to 20 hours weekly.
- Candidates must reside in states authorized for remote work: Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York, Rhode Island, or Vermont.
- Possibility of occasional virtual meetings or admissions events to participate in.
- Mandatory attendance in training and calibration sessions, adhering strictly to deadlines and guidelines.

- The position excludes eligibility for other academic assignments or roles within Emerson College.
- Compensation ranges from $22.85 to $27.40 per hour based on experience.
- Preference is given to applicants near physical Emerson campuses, although primarily remote work is expected.
