Overview
Join the Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation (LLR) in South Carolina and contribute to a role that helps support a safer place to live and work. This position is based in Lexington County and offers a stable office environment, a strong benefits package, and the chance to support licensing operations for assigned boards.
Core Duties
- Handle first-time applications for assigned boards, using paper and online workflows along with the relevant criteria, databases, and software tools.
- Check submitted materials, assess whether all licensing requirements have been met, and ensure records are complete.
- Prepare, organize, and scan documents into the system while keeping database entries accurate and up to date.
- Act as one of the main front-line phone contacts and respond to questions from applicants and the public by phone, fax, email, and in-person visits, providing timely and accurate support on application and licensing matters.
- Support additional administrative and technical tasks, including continuing education audits, drafting correspondence, maintaining files, and managing records retention.
Minimum Qualifications
A high school diploma plus directly related work experience is required. A bachelor’s degree may be used in place of the related experience.
Applicants must also be able to pass a fingerprint-based background screening and clear vetting through SLED Criminal Justice Information Services.
Preferred Background
Preference is given to candidates with a high school diploma and at least three years of administrative experience, or other experience closely related to the work.

Work Conditions
This is an office-based position that involves long periods of sitting and standing. The role may occasionally require work beyond normal office hours. Duties can include daily filing, data entry, telephone handling, and computer work. Some lifting, carrying, moving, or positioning of items up to 25 lbs may also be required.
