About HOPE International and Role Overview
HOPE International is an organization dedicated to empowering families in poverty through a holistic model. The Administration & Finance Manager (AFM) position supports HOPE Rwanda by providing leadership in program finance, administration, compliance, and operations. This role ensures excellence in financial management, budgeting, reporting, internal controls, and partner financial support, while also assisting HR, planning, and maintaining relationships with church partners and field staff. The position reports directly to the HOPE Rwanda SG Country Director and is based in Kigali, Rwanda, working full-time remotely.
Key Responsibilities
- Advance HOPE International’s mission and vision through all activities.
- Develop and nurture strong Christ-centered relationships with the Country Director, head office staff, and church partner staff.
- Provide administrative and financial management including oversight, logistics, and support to HOPE Rwanda SG staff.
- Support annual business plans, budgets, and cash flow forecasting using HOPE’s Adaptive software, collaborating closely with various stakeholders.
- Manage compliance with HOPE International’s finance policies and recommend improvements to internal controls.
- Maintain accurate accounting in NetSuite, prepare reconciliations, oversee monthly closing and financial reporting, including budget-to-actual analyses.
- Coordinate with HOPE International’s US finance department and ensure timely submission of funding requests and reports.
- Ensure adherence to government regulations and provide guidance to church partners on financial performance and compliance with guidelines.
- Administer HR policies, contracts, leave reconciliation, and staff structures; supervise multiple finance and administration officers.
- Oversee office security policies, financial document management, payroll, government tax payments, and asset tracking.
- Support audit processes, risk management, and implementation of audit recommendations.
- Participate in regional Savings Group (SG) projects and initiatives for program development.
- Contribute to spiritual integration by actively engaging in devotional activities and embodying Christ-centered values in service.
- Undertake other duties as requested by the Country Director or senior management.
Required Qualifications
- A personal Christian faith and alignment with HOPE International’s mission and values.
- A relevant degree in finance, accounting, business administration, or equivalent.
- At least five years’ experience in mid-level accounting or bookkeeping; experience with Christian organizations preferred.
- Minimum two years’ experience managing a team of two or more staff members.
- Strong knowledge of financial accounting principles, processes, and systems.
- Proficiency with accounting software, especially NetSuite, and advanced skills in Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent cross-cultural and computer communication skills.
- Fluent English communication skills; knowledge of Kinyarwanda and French is a plus.
- Willingness to travel regularly within Rwanda and occasionally abroad.
- Adaptable, hard-working, and capable of performing well under pressure.
