Adjunct Faculty - BS and MS Healthcare Management (In-person and Online)

Position Overview

Rowan University invites applications from qualified individuals to serve as adjunct faculty for the Bachelor of Science in Healthcare Management and Administration (BS in HCM) and the Master of Science in Healthcare Management (MS in HCM) programs. These roles encompass teaching both in-person and online courses, allowing educators to engage students through diverse instructional formats. The BS program offers courses in both delivery modes, supporting first-year, transfer, and 3+1 students, while the MS program is delivered fully online.

Course Subjects

Potential courses include but are not limited to: Introduction to Healthcare Management, Healthcare Informatics, Healthcare Marketing, Healthcare Law and Ethics, Research Methods, Healthcare Delivery and Quality, Healthcare Finance and Decision Making, Strategic Management in Health Care, Healthcare Operations Management, Healthcare Organization Leadership, AI in Healthcare Management, and Risk Management in Healthcare.

In-Person and Online Teaching Roles

In-person faculty are responsible for leading lectures, facilitating group discussions, and providing direct support to students in a dynamic classroom environment. Online instructors deliver asynchronous courses and collaborate with university support teams to foster successful remote learning experiences.

Subject Matter Experts (SMEs)

Adjunct faculty may also serve as SMEs to partner with instructional designers creating master course content that integrates current healthcare management practices for online delivery.

Qualifications

• A minimum of a master’s degree in Healthcare Management, Business Management, or a related Public Health field coupled with clinical experience.
• Demonstrated expertise in critical thinking, emotional intelligence, leadership, diversity, and inclusion.
• Effective communication skills for clearly conveying course goals, expectations, and constructive feedback.
• Preferably, prior experience teaching at the collegiate level.
• For the MS program and SME positions, a doctoral degree in a relevant healthcare administration or management discipline is favored.
• Online faculty should possess strong technical proficiency with learning management systems, video conferencing tools, asynchronous teaching methods, and preferred experience with Canvas LMS.

Expectations and Responsibilities

• Adhere to all university policies and mandated regulations.
• Engage proactively with students by providing timely support and maintaining virtual office hours, including flexible scheduling to accommodate diverse needs.
• Contribute to student retention efforts and assist with academic, attendance, and behavioral issues.
• Deliver timely feedback on assignments and assessments and submit final grades within five business days following university guidelines.
• Foster an inclusive and positive learning atmosphere that respects diverse student backgrounds.
• Maintain subject matter expertise and complete required training, orientation, and administrative duties.

Additional Information

• Positions involve teaching loads up to 8 credits per semester and 12 credits annually.
• Compensation aligns with the State of New Jersey's Pay Transparency Act and current MOA, providing a minimum rate of $2,225 per credit (effective September 1, 2026).
