Role overview

Rowan University is looking for adjunct instructors to teach in the American Studies program, including Introduction to American Studies and, when needed, additional program courses. The role focuses on helping students understand American Studies as an interdisciplinary field and on connecting cultural studies concepts to a range of future career paths.

Courses you may teach

Teaching assignments may include Introduction to American Studies, Interdisciplinary Research and Writing, American Studies in the Classroom, and Senior Seminar.

Required qualifications

Applicants should hold the appropriate graduate degree and bring prior teaching experience in American Studies or a closely related discipline.

Interested candidates are expected to submit a CV, sample syllabi or course outlines, graduate transcripts (or an unofficial transcript showing completed graduate coursework), one recommendation letter, at least two additional references, and any other supporting documents they feel strengthen their application.

Eligibility

Candidates must already be authorized to work in the United States. Visa sponsorship is not available for this role.

Compensation and teaching load

Adjunct pay is set at a minimum of $2,225 per credit for all courses taught, in line with New Jersey pay transparency requirements and the current MOA. The maximum teaching load is 8 credits per semester and 12 credits per academic year. Course assignments are made by the college and department as needed.
