Job description
About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Accounts Receivable Team Leader to join our finance department in Auckland. This key position involves hands-on management combined with leadership responsibilities, reporting directly to the Senior Finance Director. The role offers a hybrid work environment, consisting of three days on-site and two days working remotely once established.
As a 'player-coach', you will both lead a focused team of three AR specialists and actively engage in managing our high-value corporate accounts to reduce overdue receivables.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor the AR team daily, including conducting weekly meetings focused on aged debt management to ensure collections targets are met.
- Take full ownership of major corporate account collections, making proactive calls to target overdue balances of 60 days and beyond.
- Manage complex billing disputes, process high-value credit notes, and assess client credit risks to protect the company's cash flow.
- Provide the Senior Finance Director with concise weekly reports summarizing Days Sales Outstanding (DSO) metrics and ledger health to support strategic decisions.
Required Experience and Skills
- Minimum of five years’ end-to-end Accounts Receivable or Credit Control experience, including at least one to two years in a senior or supervisory role.
- A determined, solution-oriented mindset capable of firm negotiation and achieving cash flow objectives.
- Competent intermediate Excel skills and experience with mid-size to large ERP systems, preferably SAP; Salesforce knowledge is advantageous.
- An empathetic leadership style that fosters team growth while maintaining excellent professional relationships with clients.
Benefits and Work Environment
- Structured hybrid working arrangement to support work-life balance, with two days per week available for remote work.
- Opportunity for direct mentorship from the Senior Finance Director, with autonomy over daily departmental operations.
- A clear career development path geared toward building management credentials.
