Job description

Role overview

An opportunity is available for an Accounts Receivable Officer in Australia, supporting a well-established fire protection solutions business. The role is fully remote and part-time, with a strong focus on accuracy, follow-through, and customer communication. You will help keep incoming payments on track, maintain clean debtor records, and support a steady accounts receivable workflow that protects cash flow and operational stability.

This is a detail-focused position suited to someone who works well independently, stays organized, and can confidently handle payment-related conversations with customers. You will collaborate with internal teams and external clients to clear billing issues, monitor overdue balances, and contribute to ongoing process improvements in a structured yet flexible home-based environment.

Key accountabilities

  • Maintain the accounts receivable ledger and ensure entries are current and accurately posted.
  • Contact customers by phone and email to follow up overdue invoices in a courteous, professional manner.
  • Send payment reminders and statements, and support timely debt collection activities.
  • Match incoming receipts to customer accounts and reconcile balances within the accounting system.
  • Look into payment variances, billing errors, and customer account questions, then work toward resolution.
  • Prepare debtor ageing reports and share status updates and insights with management.
  • Escalate overdue accounts according to internal credit control rules and procedures.
  • Partner with other teams to settle invoice disputes and improve billing accuracy.
  • Contribute ideas and support improvements to collections efficiency and accounts receivable processes.

Experience and skills required

  • Background in accounts receivable, credit control, finance administration, or a similar accounting role.
  • Clear communication and negotiation ability for handling payment follow-ups and account discussions.
  • Strong attention to detail, numerical accuracy, and solid organizational habits.
  • Ability to juggle several tasks, work to deadlines, and stay productive in a remote setting.
  • Familiarity with accounting software; experience with Xero or similar tools is an advantage.
  • Good computer skills, including use of spreadsheets and digital finance systems.
  • Capability to work independently while staying responsive and connected with remote colleagues.
  • Professional, proactive, and resilient approach when dealing with overdue accounts and customer queries.

Working arrangement and benefits

  • Part-time schedule of 4 hours per day, Monday to Friday, during AEST business hours.
  • Fully remote role with the flexibility to work from home and no commuting.
  • Opportunity to support an established, industry-leading fire protection solutions company.
  • Exposure to structured finance workflows and modern accounting platforms.
  • Supportive, collaborative remote team environment.
  • Compensation aligned with experience and the scope of the role.
  • A stable long-term opportunity to deepen expertise in finance and credit control.
