Role overview
Etqan Global Academy in Doha, Qatar is hiring an Accounts Assistant focused on accounts receivable. This position is part of a school finance team and is responsible for handling payment-related tasks, maintaining accurate records, supporting fee collection, and delivering responsive service to students, parents, and staff.
Core duties
- Accept and process cash, cheque, and electronic payments for tuition, extracurricular programs, school events, and field trips.
- Keep financial documentation current and accurate, including receipts, invoices, deposit slips, and collection summaries.
- Carry out bank reconciliations by matching school records with bank statements and resolving any differences found.
- Track unpaid fees and send reminders to help ensure timely collection.
- Prepare financial summaries and reports, such as daily transaction overviews and revenue reports, as requested by the Finance Manager.
- Handle refunds accurately and respond to fee-related emails in a professional and timely manner.
- Follow school procedures and Qatar financial rules relating to cash handling, payment processing, and confidentiality of data.
- Work closely with administrative teams, teachers, and school leadership to keep financial operations running smoothly.
Candidate profile
- Diploma or bachelor’s qualification in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field.
- At least 2 years of experience in finance, cashiering, or accounts receivable work.
- Comfort using accounting systems and Microsoft Excel.
- Strong number handling skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Clear communication and strong interpersonal abilities, with a polished customer service approach.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and a busy workload effectively.
- Prior experience in a school or education environment is an advantage.
- Understanding of Qatar financial regulations and cash handling practices is preferred.
- Fluency in both English and Arabic is required.
