About the Role

KPMG Jamaica operates a delivery center called Jamaica Extended Support Services (JESS) in Kingston, providing back-office support to KPMG United States. The Finance & Accounting department at JESS is expanding to enhance the Accounts Payable operations. Team members at JESS collaborate with client stakeholders under an extended team model to support back-office functions.

The Accounts Payable team is responsible for financial, administrative, and clerical duties including maintaining an accurate vendor master file, processing invoices for goods or services, and managing daily vendor payments efficiently and accurately in line with established policies.

Job Summary

The Accounts Payable Officer at JESS performs a variety of tasks following the standard operating procedures from the client’s AP team. Key duties include accurate vendor information entry, assisting vendors with setup, resolving electronic invoice exceptions and managing aged items, monitoring and responding to emails, and processing payments between member firms. This role reports primarily to the JESS AP Team Lead and receives direction from client Finance & Accounting personnel.

Key Responsibilities

  • Thoroughly review and update large volumes of vendor invoice data and enter invoice details accurately.
  • Identify and resolve invoice discrepancies, communicate issues to vendors, and reject incorrect invoices; detect duplicate invoices.
  • Enter line item coding on invoices.
  • Provide backup support for reviewing purchase order exceptions and submit for approval as needed.
  • Respond promptly to urgent requests from the Dallas AP team and area controllers.
  • Verify the accuracy of invoice payment details.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or equivalent professional certification.
  • Minimum two years of experience in Accounts Payable or related functions such as General Accounting.

Administrative and Technical Skills

  • Manage correspondence and communicate organizational information to appropriate team members.
  • Prepare and update reports, correspondence, and related documents.
  • Keep up to date with office technology and equipment.

Technical Competencies

  • Strong problem analysis and solving abilities.
  • Understanding of audit processes.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Capability to handle large volumes of data efficiently.

Additional Conditions and Work Environment

  • JESS operates a hybrid work model requiring a minimum of five days per month in the office, with flexibility depending on business needs.
  • Employees will utilize KPMG-approved Generative AI tools to aid daily tasks.
  • Work environment is fast-paced and primarily paperless, necessitating extensive use of information systems throughout the workday.
  • Periodic extended work hours and work on public holidays may be required.
