Role Overview

Banque et Finance Sénégal is looking to hire a meticulous and well-organized Accounting Assistant / Financial Accountant. The candidate will facilitate financial activities, ensure precise accounting procedures, and contribute to accurate financial reporting. This individual will manage financial records, prepare reports, support reconciliations, and comply with accounting policies and internal controls.

Key Duties

  • Maintain accurate entries in accounting records and general ledger transactions.
  • Prepare and handle journal entries, invoices, payments, receipts, and relevant financial documentation.
  • Conduct bank reconciliations, account verifications, and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Assist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes.
  • Compile financial statements, management reports, and supplementary schedules.
  • Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, and cash flow transactions.
  • Validate financial activities for accuracy and adherence to accounting standards.
  • Provide support in budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning efforts.
  • Maintain records of fixed assets and depreciation calculations when necessary.
  • Assist internal and external audits by organizing documentation and providing requested information.
  • Analyze financial data to detect anomalies or opportunities for improving processes.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards, financial regulations, and internal controls.
  • Keep financial records systematically organized while safeguarding confidential data.
  • Work closely with finance, operations, and other departments to align with organizational goals.
  • Contribute to initiatives aimed at streamlining accounting functions and enhancing reporting accuracy.

Essential Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or related discipline.
  • Solid knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and bookkeeping processes.
  • Understanding of financial statements, general ledger accounting, and reconciliation techniques.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office tools.
  • Experience or knowledge of accounting software or ERP systems is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis methodologies.
  • Strong analytical abilities and numerical aptitude with keen attention to detail.
  • Capability to identify and resolve discrepancies and accounting issues accurately.
  • Excellent organizational and time management capabilities.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.
  • High integrity, professionalism, and discretion in handling sensitive financial information.
  • Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively within a team setup.
  • Problem-solving and critical-thinking prowess.
  • Flexibility and eagerness to adopt new accounting tools and financial systems.
