Role Overview and Responsibilities

WPS seeks a dedicated and skilled Accountant to join its vibrant Dublin team. This permanent position offers the possibility of hybrid working arrangements. Reporting to the Head of Accounting and Managing Director, the candidate will be a senior figure within the client accounting team. Candidates should hold 2-3 years of financial services experience post-qualification and possess enthusiasm for thriving in a fast-changing, client-oriented setting.

  • Prepare financial statements for a diverse range of capital markets and aircraft leasing SPVs, ensuring adherence to transactional and statutory deadlines.
  • Take full ownership of financial statement preparation under IFRS or local GAAP, including leading audit preparations and delivery.
  • Lead onboarding procedures for new clients from an accounting standpoint.
  • Provide training and supervision to junior team members.
  • Assume responsibility for a portfolio of SPV directorships over time, gaining broader exposure to transactions and client relations.
  • Coordinate with auditors and clients to ensure timely and accurate completion of financial statements.
  • Manage quarterly management accounts for aircraft leasing SPVs.
  • Collaborate with tax advisors concerning VAT and corporation tax compliance.
  • Prepare and submit quarterly regulatory reports to the Central Bank of Ireland.
  • Complete FATCA, EMIR, and CRS regulatory returns effectively.
  • Maintain compliance with internal policies and proactively suggest process improvements within the team.

Qualifications and Skills

  • ACA or ACCA qualified accountant with at least two years post-qualification experience in financial services within a Top 10 accounting firm or corporate services provider.
  • Proven ability to assess complex SPV transactions from an accounting viewpoint and to lead onboarding and related accounting activities.
  • Strong technical knowledge in accounting principles.
  • Experience supervising audit trainees or newly qualified accountants.
  • Audit experience including preparation and responding to audit queries.
  • Financial reporting experience is advantageous but not required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly advanced Excel skills, is essential.
